Serosep is a specialist provider of microbiology diagnostics, operating within a sector where precision, reliability, and regulatory compliance are essential. As part of the development of a new microbiology diagnostics facility, Serosep required a design approach that could be clearly communicated to a diverse group of stakeholders, including technical teams, management, and delivery partners. In line with Serosep’s corporate ethos, the facility also needed to prioritise sustainability, energy efficiency, and long-term operational performance.
PEMCAS was engaged to deliver a fully coordinated mechanical and electrical (M&E) design solution, supporting the project from early concept through to construction and handover. A key objective was ensuring that complex technical requirements could be easily understood and validated at each stage of development, reducing risk and supporting confident decision-making.
To achieve this, PEMCAS utilised advanced 3D modelling techniques to produce detailed yet highly visualised designs. These models clearly demonstrated how laboratory spaces, building services, and environmental systems would operate within the finished facility. This approach proved invaluable in aligning stakeholders, enabling early identification of potential challenges and ensuring a smooth transition from concept design into construction.
Sustainability measures were embedded throughout the design. PEMCAS delivered electric vehicle charging infrastructure and is progressing a 75 kWp photovoltaic solution to supplement the facility’s electrical supply. Energy-efficient air-to-water systems were also incorporated to provide low-carbon space heating and cooling. PEMCAS oversaw the full M&E design and supervised system installation through to final commissioning, ensuring the facility was delivered in line with client expectations.

Clear visualisation and detailed early-stage planning played a critical role in the successful delivery of this project. By using 3D modelling to communicate complex technical concepts in an accessible way, PEMCAS supported effective stakeholder engagement and minimised disruption as the project progressed from design to construction.
Embedding sustainability into the engineering strategy from the outset enabled Serosep to deliver a facility that aligns with both operational and environmental goals. The result was a smoothly delivered project, completed on time, within budget, and to the client’s satisfaction—demonstrating how thoughtful engineering design can build long-term value, confidence, and trust.
