Various Hydro Generating Sites in Ireland

The ESB (Electricity Supply Board) is Ireland’s state-owned electricity company and the country’s leading energy utility. Established in 1927 to develop and operate a national electricity system, ESB has grown into a fully integrated energy provider operating across generation, transmission, distribution, and supply

PEMCAS is proud to support ESB across several of its key hydroelectric generation assets, including Ardnacrusha, Turlough Hill, and Aghada. These stations play a critical role in Ireland’s national energy infrastructure, and maintaining safe operations and high asset reliability are fundamental priorities for ESB and the local Plant Management teams.
To assist in these objectives, PEMCAS engineers undertook detailed site inspections of the electrical and electromechanical systems at each location. This work involved capturing accurate field data, validating existing documentation, and developing precise as-built digital models of critical system architecture. These models provide a single, reliable source of truth for system configuration, allowing ESB to implement comprehensive asset tagging, streamline maintenance workflows, and strengthen lifecycle management practices.
By delivering a fully verified model and structured asset information, PEMCAS enables ESB to optimise system operation, enhance maintenance planning, and ensure that both ESB personnel and contracted service teams can work safely and confidently on complex generation assets. This work directly supports ESB’s commitment to operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and long-term asset resilience across its hydro generation portfolio.
